A customer in Kexborough, Barnsley S75 contacted me after their uPVC door became stuck shut. The priority was to identify the fault and restore access without unnecessary part replacements.
Fault traced to the Lockmaster gearbox
After inspecting the multipoint locking system, I found that the Lockmaster gearbox had failed internally. The gearbox transfers movement from the handle to the locking mechanism. When it fails, the door can become jammed even if the other components are still in good condition.
I gained access, removed the faulty gearbox and fitted a suitable replacement. This repaired the existing door without replacing the complete multipoint mechanism or the door itself.
New cylinder fitted and extra keys cut
I also supplied and fitted a new door cylinder. Then I cut additional keys on site using the equipment in my locksmith van, so the customer had everything they needed in one visit.
Door repairs and lock fitting can often be completed together. Find out more about my lock fitting service in Barnsley and uPVC door repairs.
Door working and secure again
With the replacement Lockmaster gearbox and cylinder fitted, the door was working again, and the property was secure. The photograph shows the old and new gearboxes alongside the replacement cylinder.
